Music Hound // Top Tracks of 2016

Thus far 2016 has been an excellent year for music. This decade’s biggest stars, from Beyonce to Kanye to Radiohead to Rihanna, have all released records that range from decent to good. But yet for all their commercial successes, personally they have left me yearning for more. New voices and new sounds are also breaking through as we head into the 2nd half of the decade. And for that, it has been an excellent year! Although hip hop definitely rules the charts, the most cutting edge pop music is currently being made in R&B and future funk. Shiny new faces like Nao, Gallant, Kaytranada, and Shura have been ruling our roost.

Below are some of Music Hound’s fave tracks thus far of the year. They are grouped in four categories of four songs, yet meant to be listened to as one long continuous mix. The 2nd half of 2016 will have a hard time living up to this bumper crop of tracks. Time to get lit and feel this musical heat.
